Volunteering
The work of Bolton Citizens Advice Bureau would not be possible without our volunteers. Nationally, 80% of CAB workers are volunteers and they are a valuable and valued resource. Here in Bolton there are many ways to contribute and we will be happy to find a role that will suit your skills and interests. These may include becoming an adviser, a gateway assessor, an administrative worker, a receptionist, training or helping with our vital social policy work or working in our call centre answering incoming calls from members of the public.

Voluntary work for the CAB gives good experience for paid employment. You will get 100% support, full training and your expenses paid. We are committed to equal opportunities for our workers and clients and we welcome volunteers regardless of race, gender, sexuality or disabilities.

We hold Information Sessions which give you an opportunity to find out more about us and to decide whether this is the right volunteer role for you. The sessions are informal and run for about an hour. For the dates of our next scheduled sessions click on the link above.
If you are interested please write to us or call in at the bureau.
We have a variety of roles available for volunteers, including gateway assessors, receptionist, adviser, admin person, data input, drop in support worker, form filling work or social policy worker.
Whatever skills you have we will try to find a role that, with training, will suit you.
We aren't looking for legal experts - simply people who will share their time and talents to help their local community. You will participate in an extensive training programme in a friendly and supportive working environment. We will support you in developing your skills, which may help you to get a job or change career and give you the opportunity to make new friends and boost your self-confidence.
Please note that all training is scheduled to take place between the hours of 9.30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday only and you need to have a minimum of 7 hours per week available within these hours in order to undertake the adviser training.
